Sacred Birth Centre Story

SBC Story

The vision of a Sacred Birth Centre manifesting has been long held by many. Kathy Jones Priestess of Avalon and creative director of the Glastonbury Goddess Temple described a Sacred Birth Centre as a cornerstone of the MotherWorld society. It was hearing about the ideas and vision of the MotherWorld society that inspired the amazing and generous donation to manifest the Sacred Birth Centre into being. The Sacred Birth Centre organisation was initiated in 2022

“MotherWorld is the society in which creative, nurturing & life-affirming values, actions, insights & awareness are honoured & encouraged in women, men, children & all people. It is the society that is grounded in the fact that we all live upon our Mother Earth. She is our Great Mother, the Source & Foundation of all that we are & all that we have. We need to take care of our Mother, of each other and of all life.” - Kathy Jones.

Mothers are the primary caregivers in the world who nurture & raise children. They do not do this alone, but with the loving support of fathers, the wider family & community. These children are the future of our human species, of our world. If we do not care for & support mothers, that lack of support damages the ability of mothers to unconditionally gift love & care to their children. In turn children go on to become damaged adults, & so the cycles of harm continue. Our families & societies need to honour and take care of all Mothers.

The Sacred Birth Centre is in the process of searching for a space to be its physical home within the landscape of Avalon (Glastonbury, UK). To provide a place of support for local mothers, to hold them in the work of guiding and growing the future generations. Whilst we are waiting to find the right permanent home a team of project weavers made up of mothers, birthworkers, healers, teachers and Priestesses have been collaborating to co create the structure and ways the Sacred Birth Centre will operate.

The website has begun evolving and will have some big new developments announced soon. We  are also busy with our preparations for the Sacred Birth Conference that we are hosting in just a few weeks at Goddess Hall, Glastonbury on 11th & 12th November. Some tickets are still available if you would like to join us.

Working with SBC

Currently applications to be listed on the Sacred Birth Centre directory and website are paused while we implement a website redesign. Please join our mailing list to find out when applications are open again.

All Sacred Birth practitioners listed on SBC website or directory of birthworkers align with SBC vision, mission and core values but are independent self employed therapists and practitioners. All birthworkers and practitioners hold their own insurance, DBS and training certification where required.
