Mother Blessing / Blessingway Ceremony with Iona Jones

A Blessingway ceremony is a beautiful ceremony, based on traditional Native American practices, which honours and empowers mothers-to-be and the journey they’re about to make in giving birth. The ceremony is held by a circle of women (and sometimes men too). The sisters, mothers, grandmothers and friends are invited to sit in circle and offer the mother their love, support and wisdom. It can be a very healing ceremony, one which transforms fear and apprehension. It prepares mothers mentally and spiritually, and helps them to feel empowered for their birthing journey. It also involves some yummy pampering, a sacred footbath, blessings, songs/poems, belly painting, gifts, and cake and tea.
