Every birth is a threshold, a moment of courage, transformation, and profound love. Yet so often, the stories of birth are left untold, hidden in silence, or overshadowed by statistics. At the Sacred Birth Centre, we believe these stories are sacred. They deserve to be heard, honoured, and carried forward for future generations. Birth stories heal both through the telling and the listening.
That’s why we are creating the Birth Stories Project, an exhibition, a book, and a living archive, that will inform maternity care and practice.
The Exhibition
The exhibition will bring shared birth stories to life through words, images, and sound. It will be a space where the diversity of birth experiences can be seen and felt, offering recognition, healing, and celebration. By walking among these stories, visitors will encounter the strength, vulnerability, and resilience of birthing people and families.

The Book
The book will gather the voices and artwork in a lasting form. It will become a resource that can be held, shared, and passed down, a sacred invitation into the complexity and beauty of birth. Each story is unique, yet together they weave a tapestry that shows how birth shapes not only individuals, but also our communities and culture.
Advocacy and Change
Beyond honouring personal experiences, this project is also about advocacy. By listening deeply, we can begin to see patterns of care that empower, and of systems that fail. These stories will provide vital insights for policymakers, health professionals, and campaigners. They will help us push for change where it’s needed most, ensuring that every birthing person is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
